Affordable homes approved at Stag Lane, Wandsworth

Planning permission has been granted for affordable homes on the Putney Vale Estate, on the site of a former community centre at Stag Lane, Wandsworth.

The approval includes for demolition of existing vacant community centre and construction of flats with ancillary staff unit and communal living spaces, reduction in size of adjacent Multi-use Games Area to create circulation and access space to north-east of proposed development.

The development is made up of nine self-contained homes for those with physical and learning disabilities with accommodation for an on-site support officer as well as 11 flats for estate residents who want to downsize.

The Tibbalds CampbellReith JV was appointed by the London Borough of Wandsworth to deliver the project, with Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design taking the role of planning consultant.

Lizzie Cowan, associate at Tibbalds, said: “The new homes are designed to blend in with the character of the existing estate and to continue the strong community ethos it already offers. The plans were developed with input from the local community and were widely supported by residents and the local residents’ association.”
