Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design, together with sub-consultants Peter Brett Associates (transport and socio-economic consultants), Aspinall Verdi (property and viability) and Urban Graphics, was appointed in September 2013 to produce an Area Action Plan for North East Enfield (NEE).
Working to challenging five-month timescale, we have:
- reviewed the extensive evidence base, identified gaps and supplemented information with updates and new research (for example, detailed site visits to identify strategic east-west cycle routes);
- liaised closely with officers to ensure that we understand the issues, identify problems and develop solutions (for example, housing numbers are falling short of the Core Strategy’s aspiration and we need to ensure that the AAP is robust in this regard to avoid failing at Examination);
- developed a focussed approach to the extensive area covered by the AAP to ensure that it is capable of delivering meaningful change by targeting projects within key ‘character areas’;
- produced draft documents, and held workshops with officers and other stakeholders to discuss the issues the AAP needs to address and ensure we produce clear policies tailored to the specific needs of the area.
Examination took place in May 2015, and the AAP is expected to be adopted later this year.
